Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer (Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois), Thursday, March 22, 1956:
   Ferdinand W. Pape, Sr., 92, died Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at his home near Prairietown following a lingering illness. He was born in Moro township Aug. 15, 1863.
   He was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran church at Prairietown, of which he was a life time member. On April 24, 1894 he was married to Katherine Henke, who preceded him in death Jan. 22, 1955.
   Surviving are one son, Edmund Pape of Liberty Prairie; three daughters, Mrs. Ewald (Katie) Goebel, Mrs. Erwin (Alma) Meyer and Mrs. Carl (Mathilda) Engelke; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sophia Henke and Mrs. Minnie Henke of Prairietown.
   Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
   Friends may call at the Jacoby funeral home, Bunker Hill, after 7 p.m. Thursday until 1 p.m. Saturday, when the body will be taken to St. Peter's Lutheran church, Prairietown, to lie in state until the 2 p.m. service. The Rev. Otto Horstmann will officiate.
   Burial will be in the Prairietown cemetery.
