HAMPTON - Luther Jay Seely Jr., 65, joined his wife, Sharon, in Heaven on Wednesday, May 14, 2008.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Hampton, where he graduated from Hampton High School. He went to work as a nuclear pipefitter at the Newport News Shipyard, retiring in 2005 after 43 years of service. He was a member of Wallace Memorial United Methodist Church.

He was also a highly respected coach for Phoebus Little League for more than 20 years.

Survivors include his three sons, Larry Jay Seely, Brian Scott Seely and Randy Darrin Seely, all of Hampton; his mother, Eleanor Seely of Poquoson; his siblings, Nelson Seely and his wife, Frances, of Hampton, Ronnie Seely of Poquoson, Linda Fox and her husband, Delbert, of Hampton, David Seely and his wife, Linda, of Hampton and Rhonda Smith and her husband, Arnie, of Poquoson; and five grandchildren, Thomas Hooks, Sharon N. Seely, Chelsea Marie McKenna, Travis Jay Seely and Brittany Nicole Seely. Luther is also survived by Sue Ann Perzan, who has helped to light up his life for the last 14 months.
