Harold Devon Pittman was born February 15, 1920, to Charles Henry Pittman and Dora Elizabeth Berkeypile, both of Indiana, and who were married December 16, 1900, in Marshall County, Indiana.
He had seven known siblings – three sisters and four brothers.
According to the 1940 Federal Census and his 1940 registration card Harold was living with his parents in Norvell, Michigan and working as a farmer.
He married Florence M. Smell September 16, 1942, in Grass Lake, Michigan and they had at least one child.

Harold enlisted on December 1, 1942, and joined the 103rd Infantry Division, 328th Engineer Combat Battalion. He was killed in action on January 24, 1945, in France.

Harold Devon Pittman is memorialized by cenotaphs in three cemeteries:
Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA
Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial, Epinal, France
Oak Grove Cemetery, Napoleon, MI

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
