Bill, age 91, passed away at Hospice Serenity House of Oskaloosa. He was the son of James and Minnie (Rhoads) Hughes. He served in the US Navy. He married Phyllis Foster on April 3, 1948. He is survived by his wife, his sons, Paul Hughes, Jim Hughes,and Phil Hughes, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Esther Flanders. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Howard Hughes, his granddaughter, Amy Pettyjohn, and his siblings, John Hughes, Robert Hughes, Mary Selzer, Edith McConkey, Sister Francella Hughes, Dorothy Celania, Agnes Hughes, and Catherine Mark. Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Oskaloosa. Burial, with military rites, was in Highland Cemetery.
