Obit - 22 Apr 2001 B4 - Tacoma News Tribune - Joy Amanda Christen Carlson - Joy Amanda Carlson, daughter of Fred and Clara Cook, passed away April 17, 2001. She will be remembered for her hospitality, generosity and love of life.

Social gatherings - large or small - were Joy's chief delight, and her affiliations with numerous fraternal organizations provided boundless opportunities to exercise her skills as a hostess.

An excellent cook and an avid collector. Joy's Browns Point home was always filled with antiques, fine china, and the best of friends. When she moved to Riverbend Resort in Olympia, it then became the gathering place for her many friends and family.

Joy is survived by daughters Kathy (George) Gilbert and Clare (William) Rinne, son John Christen, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her sister Ruth Cater and brother Fred Cook. She was preceded in death by brothers Lucien, Kenneth and Vernon.

If donations were made in her name to the Alzheimer's assn., she would be pleased. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
