OBIT: - 9 June 1987 B-2 Tacoma News Tribune - Kenneth F Cook, Lt. USN, Ret., died Sunday, June 7, 1987, Born in Tacoma, he joined the Navy in 1928 and served 24 years. During that time he served 17 years in foreign waters and received many distinguished decorations. He was the Captain of the USS Brannon that took part in the opening ceremony of the Second Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
After retiring from the Navy in 1952, Mr. Cook worked at the Bremerton Naval Shipyard, then worked as a driver for the Peninsula School District with a perfect driving record for 15 years.
Surviving are: wife, Florine, Arlington; daughters, Virginia Kenyon and Candy Olson, Tacoma, Claudia Childress, Sommerville, South Carolina; son Clifford Cook, Tacoma; sisters, Ruth Cater and Joy Christen Johnson, Tacoma; brothers, Vernon, Soap Lake, Frederick, Tacoma; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 10 at Kingdom Hall, South 23rd and Cushman. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
