Lewis T. Shepherd, 82, a resident of the Villisca vicinity the last 64 years, died at 11:30 p. m., Wednesday at his home five miles northeast of Villisca, his death resulting from heart trouble. He had been ill several months. No funeral arrangements had been made when the Review went to press Thursday. Mr. Shepherd was born Nov. 19, 1853, in Illinois and came with his parents to Afton, Iowa, while still a youth. In 1871 at the age of 18 years he moved to this vicinity where he had since made his home, the last 21 years of which was on the farm where he died. Farming was his life's occupation. He was married May 29, 1878, to Miss Emma Clayton at Red Oak and to them were born seven children, one of whom died in infancy. The living children are: Frank, Farragut, Iowa; Clifford, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. H. W. Wood, Gardena, Calif.; Mrs. Roy Bryson, northwest of Villisca; Harry and Miss Lena, at home. Mr. Shepherd also leaves one brother, Jerry, of northeast of Villisca, two sisters, Mrs. Nevada Langford, Albany, Mo., and Mrs. Rebecca Feight, Oakland, Calif., and six grandchildren.
