Deena (Forest) DeWitt was born on February 28, 1954 in Glasgow, Montana, the daughter of O K Forest (1930–2019) and Jeanette E Brenden Forest (1936–2018), and she was the eldest of three children. The family moved to Wolf Point in 1965 and she graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1972.
She was married in June 1972 to Daniel "Boone" DeWitt, and they had two children before they were divorced in 1987.
Deena enjoyed bowling, softball, darts, pool, wagon trains and Jaycees. And, she loved horses: Her horse Robin would lay down and go to rolling, even if it was in the middle of the Poplar River, soaking her to the bone. Most important to her were her grandchildren, and she was their loudest cheerleader at wrestling, basketball, baseball, football, track or cross country sporting events. She was one of the Wolf Point Wolves' biggest fans. She was also an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point.
The last 17 years of her life, she worked two jobs, one at Faith Lutheran Home and the other at Harry's Nite Club.
She was affectionately known as Grandma Stubbie, and she was 58 years old when she lost her battle with cancer on January 20, 2013 at the Billings Clinic.
Deena was preceded in death by her grandmothers Edith Forest and Esther Kraus, grandfathers Bert Forest and John Brenden, her aunt Louise McAnally and her uncle Leroy Forest. Survivors included her parents in Glasgow, a married daughter and a married son, four grandsons, a granddaughter, a married sister in Florida, a married brother in Montana and six nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Wolf Point.
