Gayle Ontis Lee, 52, died at 8:35 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at her home with her family by her side. She was born Oct. 18, 1953 in Alton to the late Charles J. and Marion Eleanor (Silvester) Ontis. On June 7, 1977, in Godfrey, she and Oscar J. Lee were united in marriage, he survives. She retired from Alton Mental Health Center. She was baptized into the Catholic faith on Jan. 1, 2006. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Amanda Lee and Heather and Tracey Lightner; a son, Eric Lee, all of Alton; three grandchildren, Breanna Lee, Erica Lee and Destiny Lightner; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Yvonne Ontis of Alton, Denise and John Hogan of Bridgeton, MO., Christine and Matt Garner and Valerie Ontis, all of Alton, and Leonard Ontis of Brighton; a special aunt, Vivian Baiter; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, Steven and jeffery Ontis. Services were private.
