TOLEDO — Helen Y. Olmstead, 75, of Toledo, IL passed away at 5:05 pm on January 22, 2013 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Private family funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday January 25, 2013 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. A visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Toledo cemetery.
Helen was born on August 17, 1937 in Jewett, IL to Rufus & Marie (Yaw) Gentry. She married Ron "Butch" Olmstead on May 20, 1955. Surviving is her husband of 57 years; Children Roxie (Steve) Gentry of Toledo, Larry Olmstead and special friend Jodi Stephens of Midlothian, TX, Tim (Sandy) Olmstead of Toledo, IL.; A sister Elaine (Ronnie) Carlen of Greenup. She was Grammy to Rachel (David) Cutts, Erin James, Janet (Christian) Duran, Jake (Jenny) Olmstead, Jordan (Melissa) Gentry, Andrew (Heather) Olmstead, Alexis (Dave) Nichols, Whitney (Chris) Edwards, Trey Olmstead & special friend Samantha Bartolozzi and Jeffery Olmstead & Fiancé Clarissa Rosnack and was Great Grammy to 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Joe Gentry and a sister Lavona Stewart.
Helen was a loving Wife, Mother and Grammy and was co-owner with her husband in The Bag & Barrier Corp. in Toledo for 25 plus years.
