Mittie was the daughter of Louis James Alexander and Emmaline Anderson. She married Stephen Jackson "Steve" Blalock, son of James Riley Blalock and Mary Ann Vail. Their children were Mattie Maude (Stinson), Virgie (Abercrombie), Audie (Riley), twins Wilson and Winnie, Leota (Lafune) and Mason Blalock.
