Amelia was born on April 3, 1922 in Lexington, Texas, to parents Otto and Ruby Meyer.
Amelia married the love of her life, Harold Burgeson on October 4, 1950 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Amelia and her husband traveled extensively during his 30 year Air Force career. They retired to Lago Vista, Texas where Amelia enjoyed playing golf, bridge and entertaining her many friends. She was an avid reader and accomplished seamstress. Upon Harold's death, Amelia moved to Kerrville and resided at Sterling House until her death. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harold; her parents Otto and Ruby Meyer and her sisters Dorothy Meyer and Orene Curry.
She is survived by her brother, Cecil Meyer and wife Maxine of Cameron; daughters, Nancy Atkission and husband Cecil of Kerrville, and Linda Chase and husband Doug of Dallas; grandchildren, Kelly McGrath and husband Shawn of Cedar Park, Trey Atkission of Kerrville, Nick, Travis and Tyler Chase of Dallas; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Claire Amelia and Annabelle McGrath of Cedar Park.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013 in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, Texas, 78028 with Chaplain Sam Ligon officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
