Mary Elder Wright was the daughter of John and Jane Elder Wright. She was born in Clifford, Ontario, Canada. She came with her family to Casselton, North Dakota as a young girl.
She married Austin John Manners, son of Robert and Annie Burns Manners in Casselton on April 14, 1897. They had 10 children: Robert, Jeanette (Manners), Hugh, Bernadette (Hopkins), Russell, Harry, Douglas, John, Ralph and Ruth (Stice). They lived in a 2 story house for many years on Langer Avenue. Mary was a member of the Casselton Methodist Church and also an active member for many years of the Eastern Star.
