"Perry people in general were painfully shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. M. J. Young, which occurred at the home of her son's in Kansas City, Thursday of last week, where she had been visiting.
Mrs. Elizabeth Young was born near Thompsonville, Sept. 27, 1869. She was married to M. J. Young in Perry, June 15, 1893, and to this union, three children were born, Roy, Richard and Robert.
Mr. and Mrs. Young had resided in Perry for a number years, but recently had been living in Topeka. She was a sister of Mrs. J. M. Fowler of his city. She was a woman who gained and held many friends and her death caused much sorrow in Perry and vicinity.
The body was brought here for burial and services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Fowler, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. L. B. Pruitt. Burial was made at Oak Ridge Cemetery." Perry Kansas Mirror, October 24, 1918
