Mrs. Shirley Ann Ballard, 64, and a resident of Gulfport, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Ballard was a member of First Baptist Church in Gulfport and a member of MS Professional Educators. She was a graduate of MS College in Clinton and was a teacher at Bayou View Elementary School. Mrs. Ballard retired from the Gulfport City School system with 31 years of service. Mrs. Ballard is preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Thomas Ballard, Sr., and her parents, James Hubert & Mattie Hames Thompson. She is survived by a son, Talmadge Thomas Ballard, Jr., and his wife, Kimberly of Gulfport; a daughter, Tracy Thompson Ballard of Gulfport; two stepdaughters, Courtney Ballard Murtaugh of Barrington, IL; Rena Anne Ballard (Helwig) of Algonguin, IL; a brother Dr. J. William Thompson and his wife, Fay, of Nashville, TN; a sister, Emma Frances West and her husband Julian of Cleveland, MS; and three grandchildren, Kyle Ballard-Cloyd, Mattie Brooke Ballard-Millet & Jessica Ballard.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at 4:00 pm at the 25th Avenue Chapel of Riemann Funeral Home where friends may call two hours prior to service time. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Gulfport.
