TORU IWAASA, age 76 years, beloved husband of Seiko Iwaasa, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 1994 on the farm that he dearly loved east of Raymond, Alberta.
Toru will always be lovingly remembered by Seiko, his wife, his three sons and their families; 9 grandchildren. Also to mourn are five sisters; Sachie Karaki, Yasuko Hironaka, Juni Rynning, Hanse Iwaasa-Robbs all of Lethbridge, Sumi Hattori of California; three brothers; Jeauna presently on a mission in Japab, Ray of Edmonton, and Nolan of Chilliwack, BC.
Toru was born on March 29, 1918 in Raymond, Alberta and has resided there until the time of his passing. Early in WW II, he, along with two other young men from the Raymond Japanese community, enlisted in the Canadian Army and served for 5 years with the Royal Canadian Engineers, seeing action in Normandy, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was proud to have been able to serve his country and was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Marriage to Seiko Kinoshita on November 26, 1947.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 1994 in the Raymond Stake Centre (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). Interment in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond, AB.
