Mrs. Amelia A. Clark, wife of E.E. Clark, died at their home in this place, at 6½ o'clock last Wednesday morning, after a brief illness, in the 34th year of her age. Mr. Clark and family came to this place from Ogle County, Illinois, in the spring of 1876, and the following season built the large stone house in the northeast part of town, where the wife and mother passed away. Although her death was sudden, it was not unexpected, she having been in uncertain health for a number of years, her disease being inflammatory rheumatism, which reached the heart, causing death. She leaves behind her a husband, and son and daughter aged respectively 17 and 14, to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother, and many warm friends to regret her untimely departure. The funeral services were held at the residence on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. Bushnell, Jr. The remains were interred in Highland Cemetery, followed by a large concourse of friends.
