IRENE HARTLEY-LARSON

Irene Ireson Hartley-Larson, 99, Vinita, Okla., died Wednesday, August 1, 2001, in Craig General Hospital.

Mrs. Larson was born January 6, 1902, in Stockton to Robert E. and Inez (Cowan) Ireson. She graduated from Stockton High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia. She taught high school mathematics at Stockton and Richards, Fort Scott, Kan., Centralia, Okla., and 22 years at Aurora.

She married Thomas H. "Jot" Hartley on Sept. 2, 1926. He preceded her in death in June 1943. She married Dr. Howard Larson of Aurora in 1952. He preceded her in death in 1976.

Mrs. Larson was a charter member and past regent of the Elkhorn chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and International Who's who of Geneva, Switzerland. she was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a 75-year member of Eastern Star.


Survivors include a son, Robert I. Hartley and wife Jane of Vinita, Okla.; three grandchildren, Thomas Jot Hartley and wife Renee, Clay Everett Hartley and Robert Edward Hartley, all of Vinita, Okla.; and three great-grandchildren, Travis, Jimmy, and Lindsay Hartley, all of Vinita, Okla.

Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 4, at Pilgrim Presbyterian Church of Vinita, Okla., with Dr. Henry Haynes officiating. Graveside rites were at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Stockton Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Travis Hartley, Jimmy Hartley, A. Clark Montgomery, Richard Montgomery, Jot Hartley, and Clay Hartley. Honorary pallbearers were Clark I. Montgomery, Scott Montgomery, John Mahoney, Ted Christian, and Bobby Hartley.

Arrangements were under direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home, Vinita, Okla.
