Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe, MN for Viola Dingmann, age 85, who died Tuesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the St. Agnes Parish Cemetery.
Viola was born at home in St. Martin, MN to Frank and Emilia (Athmann) Stang. She married Alfred Dingmann on October 9, 1946 in St. Martin Catholic Church, St. Martin. She worked beside Alfred on the farm while raising their children. Once the children were grown, she worked at the Paynesville Hospital in the kitchen and as the religious Ed. Coordinator and Choir Director at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Roscoe. Viola had a great faith in God. She loved to quilt and embroider. Over the years she made a quilt for everyone of her grandchildren. She also made rosaries which she gave to her children, many of her grandchildren, and the missions. Viola was active in St. John Neiman Mission Group, St. Agnes Christian Women, and Perpetual Hour of Adoration.
Survivors include her children, Tom (Deb) of St. Cloud, Vernice (Terry) Mattson of St. Cloud, Marilyn Blonigen of Paynesville, Helen (Ken) Winkelmann of Sauk Rapids, Frank (Jeanette) of Royalton, John (Sue) of St. Cloud, Sue (Lloyd) Linz of Richmond, Judy (Steve) Gertken of Cold Spring, Pete (Sue) of St. Martin, George (Jan) of Cold Spring, Betty (Art) Hommerding of Cold Spring, Marcy (Ron) Thompson of Paynesville, Anita (Daryl) Reicks of Onawa, IA, and Brian of Paynesville; son-in-law, Don (Barb) Saxton of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters, Amanda Schlangen of Richmond, and Imelda Stang of Sauk Rapids; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Stang of Red Wing, Irene Schneider of St. Cloud, Eileen Dingmann and Mildred Dingmann of Richmond; 39 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; daughter, Ann; brothers, Edgar and Ben; sisters, Josephine Stang, Agnes Simon, Sr. Anrico Stang, and Alma Dingmann; brothers-in-law, Richard Simon, Ben Schlangen, Leander Dingmann, William Dingmann, Albert Dingmann, Raymond Dingmann, Joe Dingmann, Paul Dingmann and Ervin Dingmann; sisters-in-law, Theresa Dingmann, Dorothy Dingmann, Sr. Virginia Dingmann, Marie Dingmann, and Frances Kohnen.
