SALTVILLE, Va. – Robert Wayne Everhart passed from this life into heaven on Monday, March 16, at Valley Health Care in Chilhowie, Va. He was a victim of mesothelioma cancer. Robert had received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Oakley Allison Everhart; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Orrie Goodman DeBord; his brothers, James Everhart, Clarence "Buck" Everhart and Clifford Everhart; sisters, Juanita Brown, Edna Dye and Drucilla Arnold; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Blevins, Jeff Dye, Leon Brown, Louie Keene, Popeye Arnold and Robert DeBord.He was a finishing carpenter and was retired from Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Marion, Va. Robert was a wonderful person who never met a stranger. He loved fishing, especially with his son, Ted, and granddaughter, Kayla. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Dorothy DeBord Everhart; his children, Susie Everhart, Saltville, Scott Everhart, Mooresville, N.C., Ted and wife Sandy Smith Everhart, Morristown, Tenn., and Rob and wife Julia Martin Everhart, Richmond, Va.; sister, Oakie Rita Keene, Pilgrims Knob, Va.; brother, Henry and wife Pauline Everhart, Saltville; sisters-in-law, Corinne Weaver, Patsy Blevins, Barbara Moore and husband Don and Dorothy DeBord, all of Saltville, and Brenda Everhart, Florida; brother-in-law, William DeBord and wife Catherine, Baltimore; and grandchildren, Kayla Everhart and Allison and Olivia Everhart.Funeral services for Mr. Robert Everhart will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Scott Spence and the Rev. Bill DeBord officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, in the Mount Rose Cemetery.Honorary pallbearers are Charles Hogston, Don Moore, William DeBord, Don Chisler, Jack Barker, David Dixson and James "P-nut" Goodman.His family would like to thank his special care givers, Corinne Weaver, Patsy Blevins, Barbara Moore and Elsie Surber.
