He died from blood poisoning after getting kicked in the leg by a cow.

SQUIRE J.T. HIXSON
The last sad rites over the body of Esquire James Taylor Hixson one of the leading farmers of this sections who died Tuesday at his home at Hixson after an illness of a few days with blood poisoning, will be held at Hixson Methodist church, Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Pangle will officiate, and the internment will follow in the Hixson cemetery. The Masons will be in charge of the funeral.

Mr. Hixson was one of the first "trail hitters" at the Billy Sunday meeting. He was born in the north end of the county and resided there all his life. For many years he had been prominent in the political and agricultural life of the county. He served two terms in the county court. he was connected with the administration of Sheriff Skillern. He was highly esteemed by those who knew him.

Surviving him are his wife Mrs. Lilah Hixson; five daughters, Mrs. G.E. Liles, Mrs. D.R. Hamil and Misses Amy, Bessie, and Juanita, all of Hixson; and Mrs. J. Waller of Rockwood; three sons, Bernard, Creed and Raymond; two brothers, Foster and Mell Hixson, and three sisters, Mrs. A.H. Bailey, Mrs. Lou Gibson, and Mrs. H.G. Elliot.
