LEAVENWORTH _ Lucy M. Chard, 86, a 42-year resident of Leavenworth, died Friday, Jan. 7, 1994, in Highline Convalescent Center at East Wenatchee. She was born Jan. 18, 1907, to Lee and Lillie (Johnson) Arbogast at Miller, S.D. She grew up there and graduated from Miller High School in 1926. She married George Chard on Nov. 28, 1928, at Miller, S.D. They moved to Leavenworth in 1937, and farmed on the Emig Ranch. Mrs. Chard worked in fruit sheds for several seasons. She moved to Seattle in 1956, where she worked for Frederick and Nelson for about a year. She then worked for the Boeing Co. as a statistician for 14 years, retiring in March of 1971. She then returned to Leavenworth. She was a member of Chumstick Grange Number 819, and the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church. She was baptized into the First Baptist Church in Renton, and was a member of the Rebekah Sunflower Lodge Number 295, the Alpine Club, the Sunshine Club and the Thursday Pinochle Club. She had worked on fund raisers for the Leavenworth Senior Citizens and was a volunteer for the Bloodmobile. She is survived by a son, Ronald G. of Everett; three daughters, Lorraine M. Miller of Renton, Cleeta J. Monesmith of Leavenworth and Carol R. Hanson of Olympia; a sister, Mae Palmer of Custer, S.D.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955, six brothers and two sisters. Arrangements are by Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth.
