OBITUARY:
The death of Laurent Dupre, which occurred in Opelousas, on Thursday night, April 6, 1905, was both sudden and tragic.

He went into his law office at about five o'clock, and at 8:30 was found a corpse.

Mr. Dupre had been a practitioner at the Opelousas bar since 1871 and the testimonial of his brother barristers, which appear in this issue, speaks so highly of his record as a lawyer that we need not supplement it.

Mr. Dupre was a prominent factor in the politics of St. Landry, his ability, eloquence, gentlemanly demeanor, making him a strong man in the political arena.
He was a member of one of the most prominent families in the State - a family of statesmen, Governors, Congressmen, orators, and lawyers.

He leaves a large family to mourn his death.

To the Honorable E. T. Lewis, Judge of the Sixteenth Judicial District Court of Louisiana:
Your undersigned committee, appointed to draft suitable resolutions on the death of our brother and fellow-member of the bar, Hon. Laurent Dupre, beg leave to submit the following report:

That our departed brother, admitted to the bar in 1871, for many years attained to, and maintained, a deservedly high reputation as lawyer and advocate, having had, for many years, a large and lucrative practice; that in his association with his fellow-members he always observed the rules of the strictest professional etiquette and propriety, and in his deportment he was uniformly polite, considerate and courteous, exhibiting in a high degree the characteristics of the polite and educated gentleman; that in his life the virtue of the enlighted, learned and honorable lawyer and advocate.
