FAIRHOPE, AL -- Services for Arzelia Nell Brown Messer, 86, of Fairhope, formerly of Wedowee, AL will be 2 p.m. Sunday, 16 Sep 2007 at First Methodist Church of Wedowee with Rev Gary Henderson and Rev Robert Mount officiating. Mrs. Messer will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery.

Mr. Messer died Friday, 14 Sep 2007 at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, AL (Baldwin County).

The family will receive friends on Saturday, 15 Sep 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee, AL.

Mrs. Messer is survived by four daughters, Hilda Camp of Fairhope, AL, Brenda Beasley of Wedowee, AL, Jackie Cottle of Roanoke, AL and Rhonda Rogers of Fairhope, AL; one sister, Joan Blondell Brown Phillips of LaFayette, AL; one brother, Elton Conrad Brown of Gadsden, AL; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Jack Messer; and her parents, Lloyd Woodson Brown and Annie Mae Freeman Brown.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dr. Ben Camp, Bill Morrison, Cody Cottle, Corey Cottle, Landon Rogers and Logan Rogers.

Mrs. Messer was born 12 Sep 1921, daughter of Lloyd Woodson Brown and Annie Mae Freeman Brown. She was a faithful member of First Methodist Church of Wedowee and the United Methodist Women. She served as church financial secretary for many years and was a former member of the Wedowee Garden Club. Mrs. Messer had worked alongside her husband at Messer Electric for over 40 years. Her smile brightened the lives of all those she touched.

Flowers will be accepted or donations made to the First United Methodist Building Fund.

Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee, AL handled arrangements.
