Mary Kathryn Hartley

SHERMAN - Memorial services for Mary Kathryn Hartley, 82, were held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 3:15 at Hilltop Haven Chapel in Gunter, Texas with Pastor John Brooks and Minister Allen Luker serving as officiants.

Mary Kathryn (Blair) was born October 16, 1930 in Amarillo, Texas to Barney Robert Blair and Bessie Mae (Armer) Blair and passed from this life on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in Gunter, Texas. Mary Kathryn grew up in Carthage, Texas, where she met and married her husband, William Thomas "Cricket" Hartley Jr. They spent most of their married life in the East Texas area. Mary Kathryn moved to the North Texas area about 15 years ago, and was a resident at Hilltop Haven the past 3 1/2 years. She liked to work with her flowers and loved her cats. She enjoyed reading books and poetry, listening to music, going shopping, and driving through the countryside.

Mary Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant-son Bill Hartley, step-son Allen G. Hartley, and a brother, Robert C. Blair.

Survivors include: daughter Carolyn Hartley of San Diego, CA; daughter and son-in-law Suzann Lambert and husband Robert of Sherman, Texas, step-daughter-in-law Ruth Hartley and step-grandchildren, Dana Jones-Hartley, Stephanie Driver, and William Thomas Hartley III, all of the Nacogdoches, TX area; two sisters, Jessie Fern Cox and Ruth Matheney-Hill, both of California.

Mrs. Hartley was cremated according to her wishes. A burial of her cremains will be interred at a later date in the Old Center Cemetery in the Old Center Community in Panola County, TX, with Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home of Carthage, TX, handling the interment.

The family requests memorials be made to Christian Care Centers 308 E. College St. Gunter, TX 75058.
