Christine Harder, 93, of Kilgore, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Longview, Texas.
Christine was born on May 27, 1919 on the family farm between Sunset and Bowie, Texas.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore, where she served as treasurer of Women Bible Study. She was a member and past officer of Order of the Eastern Star and Social Order of the Beauceant at Danville Lodge in Kilgore. Christine worked most of her adult life as a nurse and secretary for her stepfather Dr. Morris Velinsky. After the death of her husband in 1999, Christine spent much of her time volunteering for Helping Hands of Kilgore.
Christine is survived by son, Cliff and his wife Peggy Harder; two granddaughters; and one niece and three nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Cliff Harder; father, Floyd Shanks; mother, Lillian Shanks Velinsky; stepfather, Dr. Morris Velinsky and brothers, Earl and Ernest Shanks.
