Thelma L. Zimmerman, age 90, of Edwardsville, Illinois, died at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 08, 2013, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. She was born June 23, 1922, the daughter of the late Luther, Sr. & Edna (Cook) Biggs.
Thelma is survived by three sons, Lindel Zimmerman & wife Rose of Marine, Illinois, John Zimmerman & wife Cheryl of Vallejo, California, Roy Zimmerman, Jr. & wife Cindy of Jamestown, California; one daughter, Sharon Prott & husband Jerry of Edwardsville; ten grandchildren, Amber & Laura Zimmerman, Jerry "J.J." Prott and wife Kari, Lori Korte, Scott Zimmerman & wife Melissa, Michael Zimmerman & wife Jessica, David Zimmerman, Bobbi Jo Frey & husband Bruce, Melinda Usher & husband John, and Jennifer Davis; sixteen great grandchildren, Logan Shank, Brooke & Brianne Prott, Brayden Prott, Dustin Korte & wife Amanda, Dale Korte, Kayla, Clinton, Mariah, Jason, Jaia, & David Zimmerman, Jr., David & Katie Frey, John & Daniel Usher; one great great grandchild Carson Korte; one brother, Luther Biggs, Jr. and wife Mary Jane of Glen Carbon, Illinois; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, William, Charles, Donald, Richard and Larry Biggs; one sister, Virginia Montemago; and one grandson, John Zimmerman.
Thelma was a loving person who enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, but most of all loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Edwardsville. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Jackie Havis-Shear officiating. Thelma will be cremated according to her wishes and will be interred at St. James Cemetery in Fort Russell Township, Illinois.
