Wilma D. Gardner, 101, of Davenport, formally of Durant, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Davenport Good Samaritan Center in Davenport.

Visitation will be 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Memorials may be made to the Durant Cemetery, the Durant Ambulance Service or St. Paul's Episcopal Church in her memory.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 9, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, with Rev. Thomas Gehlsen officiating. Music provided by organist Deb Mohr. Pallbearers are Mark Knouse, Steve Knouse, Kirk Trede, Nicolaus Erickson, Gregory Erickson, Michael Knock and Richard Knock. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Wilma Dorothea Kruse was born August 12, 1896, in Gladbrook, the daughter of Gusav and Alvena (Wulf) Kruse. The family moved to Cedar County, when she was very young. Her father passed away when she was three years old. She received her education the Cedar County schools. She was a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport. She married Joseph Michael Gardner on July 10, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. The couple moved to the Los Angeles, California area where she was employed as a seamstress. After retirement, the couple returned to Durant to live. Joseph preceded her in death on August 24, 1983. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Durant and the Durant Senior Citizens.

Surviving are one half brother, William Trede of Durant; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-father, George Trede, one brother, Roy Kruse and one half sister, Dorinda Ormsby.
