Funeral services for Alvin Allerdings, age 86, of Mobridge will be Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 10:30 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Burial will be in the Mobridge City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Visitation will be Monday from 3-7PM with a prayer service at 7PM at the funeral home. Alvin passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Alvin Allerdings of Mobridge went to his eternal home with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on January 10, 2013, at the age of 86.

Alvin Allerdings was born September 19, 1926, to Jacob and Louisa (Follmer) Allerdings in Selby. Alvin attended the Ash Grove grade school in rural Selby and graduated from Selby High School in 1944.
After graduation, he enlisted with the US Navy and received an honorable discharge in 1946. He returned to the Selby area where he started his livelihood of farming and ranching. On June 5, 1949, he married Ione Rieger of Mobridge. To this marriage four children were born: Patricia, Richard, Dean and Dona.

After selling the cattle in 1993, he purchased a home in Mobridge where he resided. Alvin continued to farm for a number of years after moving to Mobridge before retiring.

He became a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, where for a period of time did their snow removal. Alvin was a great admirer of the eagle.

Alvin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ione; their four children Patricia (James) Larson, Richard (Vicky) Allerdings, Dean Allerdings and Dona Mangan; nine grandchildren Justin (Erica) Larson, Byron Larson, Amy (Brandon) Wilson, Scot Allerdings, Todd Allerdings, Deann (Jason) Pilcher, Andrew, Sara and Nicole Mangan. Six great-grandchildren; Trevor and Brooke Larson, Kylie and Tipton Wilson, Paige Allerdings and Macie Pilcher. He is also survived by one brother Elmer (Barbara) Allerdings of Selby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and a son-in-law.
