Van Lou Apple, 84, of Bowling Green , Ohio, passed away at the Heritage Health Corner Campus, October 15, 2014. She had been a resident there for three years. She was born February 11, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to Norman L and V. Irene (Stipe) Rhoads. She attended Bowling Green High School and graduated in 1948. She married William B. Hungling in Bowling Green, Ohio in 1950 and later Married Weldon “Bud” Apple in 1997 in Bloomdale, Ohio. During her working Career Van Lou was employed as a store clerk for the former Miller-Sanders Hardware Store, a waitress and hostess for Frisch's Big Boy and finally as a library assistant in the Dean's Office of Jerome Library at Bowling Green State University. She retired in 1992. Her interests included travelling, sports, Reading and working crossword puzzles. She was pre-deceased by her parents, both husbands, son-in-law Michael Sponsler, and cousins Carol Jean (McVay) Fairchild and Margaret May McVay. She is survived by children Matthew Hungling, Bowling Green, Susan (Bill) Anderson, Swanton, Rita Lewis, Perrysburg, and Martha Sponsler, Bowling Green; grand-children Mark John (Tutsy) Asmus, Andrew (Katerina) Asmus, Bryce Anderson, and Joshua Sponsler; And six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Betty Reynolds, Ann Arbor, And several nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date. Memorial tributes can be made to the St. Aloysius Church (Bowling Green) building fund. The family wishes to the thank Heritage Corner Health and Bridge Hospice for their kind and diligent care for Van Lou during her stay. Arrangements are being handled by Dunn Funeral of Bowling Green.
