Ruby L. Mulbrook, 85, of Newton died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at her home.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.
Memorials to Skiff Hospice may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Merritt William and Anna Bess (Trotter) Atwood, Ruby was born Feb. 6, 1926, in Newton. On Nov. 28, 1953, she was united in marriage with Francis Mulbrook in Omaha, Neb.
Ruby worked at the Vernon company for 31 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the UAW Local 997. She was a lifelong resident of Newton.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Francis of Newton; two daughters, Alicia (David) Troen of Newton and Deb (Randy) Jacobs of Newton; two sons, Bill (Rita) Mulbrook of Leawood, Kan., and David (Jeannette) Mulbrook of Newton; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Everett, Vic and Jack; and a sister, Virginia.

Those left to honor Ruby's memory are her husband, Francis, of Newton; 2 daughters, Alicia (David) Troen of Newton and Deb (Randy) Jacobs of Newton; her 2 sons, Bill (Rita) Mulbrook of Leawood, Kansas and David (Jeannette) Mulbrook of Newton; 8 grandchildren, Jeff Troen, Jen Verheul, Kris Jacobs, Brett Jacobs, Kristina Mulbrook, Billy Mulbrook, Juliann Brown, and Jeremy Mulbrook; her 9 great-grandchildren, Josh, Jordan, Jace, Jayda, Amy, Eric, Carrie, Samara, and Aiyanna; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
