Bonnie Ashley Spitchley, 71, passed away January 8, 2012 at her residence. Visitation will be 1pm-3pm Thursday at First Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. Services will be 3pm Thursday at First Baptist Church with burial at Hazlehurst Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Bonnie was born in Lawrence County. She attended school in Lawrence County and Hazlehurst. She married and reared her family in Hazlehurst. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Hazlehurst.

Mrs. Bonnie loved the Lord, and her life was characterized by her faith in Him. She loved her family and friends, and church family that she faithfully served over the years. She loved being outdoors, and especially working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was truly blessed by God and has now gone to be with Him.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.

She is survived by husband, Carl H. (Pat) Spitchley of Hazlehurst; sons, Michael Alan Spitchley of Madison, Douglas Carl Spitchley of Hazlehurst, Ricky Lee Spitchley of Florence and Christopher Scott Spitchley of Dixie Springs; daughter, Toni S. Higdon of Hazlehurst; brothers, Alvin Ashley of Sontag; Floyd Ashley of Ft.Worth, TX, Lloyd Ashley of Flora, and Jerry Ashley and Tommy Ashley both of Hazlehurst; step-sisters, Nancy Patrick of Corinth and Jenny Kay Yates of Bartlett, TN; grandchildren, Rachael Ann Spitchley, Sarah Elise Spitchley, Jennifer Amanda Spitchley, Susan Elaine Johns, Rebecca Lynn Jordan, Christina Denae Spitchley, Emily Higdon Perrett and Laura Ashley Higdon; great grandchildren, James Lee Johns, Justin Matthew Jordan, Lillian Grace Jordan and Jackson Wyatt Johns; and numerous nieces and nephews.
