Russell passed away in Prescott, Arizona, on Dec. 25, 2012, after a long illness. He was a resident of Sierra Vista, Arizona, for 11 years.
Russell was born on Dec. 25, 1926, in Detroit, Mich. He attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and worked in the lumber industry.
He married his second wife, Rutha Harris Alger, in 1971. He was a great husband and father. Russell's favorite hobby was sailing.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Rutha Harris of Sierra Vista; his brother, Daniel Alger; and his sister, Anne Rollins. He is also survived by his children, Deborah Knudson, Constance Alger, and Nancy Twynham; grandchildren, Andrew Rogers of Seattle, Wash., Danny Rogers of Arlington, Va., and Lindsey Twynham of Scottsdale.
A funeral service is planned for Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the Faith Presbyterian Church on Choctaw Drive in Sierra Vista.
