Adda M. Paxson, age 92, of Salem, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Essex of Salem II. She was born June 24, 1920 in Columbiana, Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Lyon) Firestone.

Mrs. Paxson had been last employed as a personal secretary for Mr. Walter Deming at the Deming Company. She had also worked at Firestone Electric. Adda was a graduate of the Fairfield Centralized High School and Salem Business College.

She had been a member of the Salem First Christian Church for 60 years, where she served as Sunday school teacher and deaconess. She had been a Girl Scout Leader, Campfire Girls Leader and had belonged to the Deming Girls.

Her husband, Gayle Klar Paxson, whom she married October 22, 1949, survives her; along with two daughters, Karen (Bruce) Johnson of Salem and Linda (Barry) Christen of Denver, Colorado; and five grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were seven brothers, Richard, Walter, David, Allen, Howard, Clyde and Guy Firestone; and three sisters, Grace Vollnogle, Hazel Firestone and Iva Everitt.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Moore officiating. Calling hours will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
