BIO: MINNIE MAYE KERR:
Minnie Maye was born December 28, 1904 on her parents farm near Cordell, Oklahoma in Washita County. She was the fifth child and fourth daughter of Annie Elizabeth (Bower) Pitzer and John Riley Pitzer. Her youth was spent raised on her parents farm and attending the local schools and Chuch of the Brethren, of which her father was the Elder and minsiter.
She graduated High school at Garber, Oklahoma. She attended McPherson, Brethren Church sponsored College, became a registered nurse, received her training in McPherson, Kansas.
On March 05, 1928 she married Victor Louis Kerr. From this marrage two sons were born. Minnie Maye worked at her chosen profession, a nurse, at Bartlesville and later at Enid at several locations. Victor retired from the Bartlesville, Oklahoma fire department after twenty years service and they moved to Garber, Okla.
As all the Pitzer girls were known for their sewing and needle work, Minnie Maye is best known for her knitting and crocheting. Many people value gifts of needle work she has done over the years.
Early in 1991 she sold her home in Garber and moved to a retirement home in Enid, Oklahoma. There she had a Beautiful one bedroom appartment on the fourth floor of the retirement complex. They fix the noon meal for the residences each day, and clean her appartment once a week. I was born in Aunt Minnie Maye's home May 25, 1937, in Bartlesville, OK. she is my favorite Aunt.
