SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. MARTHA BACON

Funeral services for Martha Lenora Bacon, 86, were held Sunday, August 18 at the Sellergren Funeral Home. She died Friday, August 16, at her home here.

Rev. A Breeling officiated at the services. Music was by Mrs. Cecil Weaver, soloist, with Mrs. Orrin Carmichael as accompanist. Bearers were George V. Patterson, Henry Shearer, Millard Bashaw, Donald Pierson, Henry Carmichael, and Bernard Walter. Burial was in Grant Cemetery.

Martha Lenora Bacon, daughter of Aaron and Nancy Patterson, was born March 13, 1860 in Newcomerstown, Ohio. She came to this county in 1866. She was married in Red Oak in 1879 to Ransom T. Bacon, who died in 1917.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Della Walter of Chicago and Mrs. Ethel Neary of Red Oak and 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is a half brother, George V. Patterson of Red Oak.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Sellergren Funeral Home in Red Oak for Mrs. Martha Lenora Bacon, Rev. A. Breeling had charge of the service. Cecil Weaver of Villisca sang accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Orrin Carmichael. Pall bearers were George V. Patterson, Henry Carmichael, Henry Shearer, Millard Bradshaw, Bernard Walter, and Donald Pierson. Burial services were at the Grant Cemetery.

Mrs. Martha Lenora Bacon was born March 13, 1860 at Newcomers Town, Ohio and passed away August 15, 1946 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Neary of Red Oak. Mrs. Bacon is survived by two daughters, Mrs.Pat (Ethel) Neary of Red Oak and Mrs. Bernard (Della) Walter of Chicago. Mrs. Bacon lived in Grant for many years.

Those attending the burial services from a distance were Mr. na Mrs. Bernard Walter, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harness, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Wilkinson, Seminole, Oklahoma, Mrs. Merle Nelson, Mason City, Iowa, and Glen Curry, Cromwell, Oklahoma.

Martha Lenora Patterson, aged 86 years, 5 months, 3 days, was born in March March 13 1860 in New Cumberland, Guernsey County, Ohio to Aaron Patterson and Nancy Bryan. She married Ransom Thomas Bacon in 1878 in Grant, Montgomery County, Iowa. They were parents of five children, Bert, Lena, Jennie (Mrs. Howard Hepler), Della, and Ethel (Mrs. Pat Neary). She died in August 15, 1946 at her home 305 Joy Street, Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa and interment was in Grant Cemetery. Informant was Ethel Neary, Red Oak, Iowa.
