Doris Newton Fischer, 88, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, in New Brunswick, N.J. Doris was born in Raton and was a resident of New Brunswick, N.J., for the past 65 years.

Doris was a former Girl Scout Leader, past vice president of the Rutgers Village/Edgebrook Civic Organization ("RVECO"), active member of the New Brunswick Senior Center and member of the First Reformed Church in New Brunswick.

Wife of the late Albert A. ("Red"), Doris was predeceased by her parents James W. and Texas A. Newton, her sisters Mildred Wadlington, Mary Lou Jack and Joye Francis Newton, and her brothers James, Sam, and John Riley ("JR").

Doris is survived by her loving daughters Joy Sheehan and her husband Doug of New Brunswick and Susan of Fairfield, Iowa; her three grandchildren, Steven Aamland and his wife Anne of Kendall Park, N.J., Jessica Matyas and her husband Jason of Middlesex, N.J., and Allison Sheehan of North Brunswick; her four great grandchildren, Steven, Zachery and Katie Aamland and Austin James Matyas: her cherished sister Norma Hutson and her husband Hank of Peralta and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private cremation was held under the direction of the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick. A Memorial Service was held Dec. 29 at the funeral home for relatives and friends to visit with the family. Entombment of the cremains will be private at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick and at Abbott Cemetery in Abbott.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doris' memory to the Abbott Cemetery Fund, C/O Jim Woodard, Caretaker, P.O. Box 183, Springer, NM 87747.
