DAVENPORT - Doris M. Hovey, 85, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 31, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, with visitation Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary. Doris was born September 5, 1927, in Moline, the daughter of Clarence "Jim" and Esther (Anderson) Swiger, and grew up in Calamus, where she graduated from Calamus High School in 1945. She married Charles (Chuck) F. Hovey in Davenport.
Doris retired from the Rock Island Arsenal after 31 years of service. She was a member of the Moline Viking Club's Clara Lodge and Svithiod Club, Moline, and The Putnam Guild and L.I.F.T. in Davenport. Doris loved people and she is remembered for her kind, generous spirit. She never met anyone she didn't consider a friend.
