Jewell (Milstead) Crockett Gerstberger, 94, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Friday at 5 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery with Assistant Pastor Jon Swope officiating.

She was born March 16, 1908, in Gatesville to Austin M. and Ema (Cash) Milstead. She married Joseph Gerstberger, her second husband, on Aug. 9, 1975, in Leoti, Kan. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist churches in Beeville and Aransas Pass. She loved to paint and dance. She was in charge of the nursery of the First United Methodist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James A. Crockett, on May 11, 1965, and her second husband, Joseph Gerstberger, on Sept. 24, 1984; a son, Jimmy Crockett; a stepson, Bill Gerstberger; a step-daughter-in-law, Isabol Gerstberger; three brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Robert T. Crockett and wife Delfina of Temecula, Calif., and Donald R. Crockett and wife Cherlyn of Beeville; one daughter, Judy A. Hall and husband Johnnie of Crestview, Fla.; two stepsons, Elmer Gerstberger of Leoti, Kan., and Joseph Gerstberger Jr. and wife Phyllis of Talarosa, N.M.; one step-daughter, Virginia Lee of Leoti, Kan.; one sister, Bertie Huey of Stephenville; one daughter-in-law, Mary R. Crockett of Beeville; one step-daughter-in-law, Mary Gerstberger of Palisade, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchilden.
