He moved to Randolph Cty. after marriage on a farm near the mouth of Horseshoe Run that he inherited from his father. He built a 2 story log house with stone chimneys.
In 1815 he began the first school in Tucker Cty. It was called the Coburn Run school at Pleasant Vale, five miles from St George.
His son Nicholas said that every student was in school by dawn and stayed til dusk with each one having 50 recitations per day!
Isaac founded the Bethel Church.
