DARLINGTON - Juanita Abbott Smoak, age 94, died December 22, 2009 at Medford Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held in Grove Hill Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, officiated by Pastor Frankie Tanner and directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born March 11, 1915 in the Mechanicsville Community, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Juanita Revell Abbott. Mrs. Smock was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons; Walter Dean Smoak of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Bruce Floyd (Diane) Smoak of Florence, SC, four Grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren. Also a sister, Dorothy "Dot" Shelley of Darlington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jehu A. Smoak, a son Byron Lee Smoak, five brothers: Robert Edward Abbott, James Walter Abbott, William Wallace Abbott, Lawrence Elmer Abbott and Grady Wilburn Abbott.
