Helen Spearman Ariail, 88, of Sevierville, passed away Saturday, Oct, 5, 1996. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sevierville for 53 years, a retired teacher from Sevier County Schools and a graduate of Winthrop College in South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyce W. Ariail, Sr.; brothers, James and Joe Spearman; sister, Leona S. Mastronardy and granddaughter, Donna Whaley Henderson.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ellouise and Paul Whaley of Knoxville; sons and daughters-in-law, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Doyce W. Jr. and Ann Ariail of Georgia and Tommy M. and Lavana Ariail of South Carolina; sisters, Kathleen S. Jeanes of South Carolina and Mary S. Wiggins of Alabama; grandchildren, Anita Ray, Bill Whaley, Cathy Rickman, John Whaley, David Whaley, Capt. Thomas, Donal, Scott and Patrick Ariail, Lisa Siggins, Amy Knowlton and Tom Ariail, and 14 great-granchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 7 p.m. at Rawlings Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Ely and the Rev. James Bailes officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. In lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Sevierville or a charity of choice.
