Elizabeth "Betty " Albro Gray, 97, of Reeds Landing in Springfield, MA, and former longtime resident of Greenville, S.C., passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.

Born September 24, 1915 in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Robert Clifford Albro, Sr. and Jean Oliphant Albro. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, William "Bill" "Mac" Gray, and her siblings, Robert C. Albro, Jr., twin sister Barbara A. Griffin, and Henry O. Albro. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Cinny Albro, and several nieces and nephews and their families.

Betty was raised in Springfield, MA., and graduated from Classical High School. She worked at Valley Bank in Springfield prior to her marriage. She then spent several years in Enfield, CT, where her husband Bill had been a lifelong resident and longtime employee of Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Company. Betty and Bill were active members of United Presbyterian Church of Enfield. They relocated to Greenville, S.C., with Bigelow-Sanford in 1968. Betty was involved with community and church activities throughout her years in Greenville. After Bill's death in January 2010, she moved to Reeds Landing where her twin sister, Barbara, resided until her death in July 2012.

Betty was an early member of the Springfield Ski Club and introduced skiing to several nieces and nephews. In addition to her community service activities, she was an avid gardener and enjoyed golf. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years. Betty will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends, and for her sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her beloved nieces and nephews who were like children to her and to Bill.

Her funeral will take place on Monday, December 17, 2012 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Leete Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, with burial to follow at Enfield Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 200 West Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
