Robert Donnell Adams III (Mr. Hospital) born in Corsicana, Texas December 15, 1925 to Robert D. Adams, Jr. and Ora Lee Davis, entered eternal life December 19, 2012 age 87. Reared in Harlingen, Texas and attended Texas A & M in 1943 when he was drafted by General George Patton's 3rd Army in Europe, then to the Philippines and Japan. Meeting the love of his life, Dorothy F. Gerhold of San Antonio, at Southwest Texas State University, they were married on July 19, 1947, with Robert's graduation from Texas State following in 1949. Bob served 35 years in hospital administration and was also Vice President of the San Antonio Hospital Council. After helping Blue Cross/Blue Shield bring Medicare to San Antonio, he opened Southeast Baptist Hospital in 1971 as administrator, before retiring in 1987. Bob served in numerous historical organizations and was an active genealogist. He was preceded in death by his sister Pauline Haning, and son Keith Adams. Bob is survived by his wife Dorothy Adams; daughter Karon Dooley; son-in-law Douglas Dooley; daughter-in-law Lynda Adams; and grandchildren Stephanie Dooley Logan, Stephen Dooley, Sarah Adams, and Justin McCutcheon. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 am on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, 825 E. Basse, San Antonio, Texas, 78209.
