She was born in St. Albans on Nov. 21, 1918, the daughter of the late Henry J. and Winnifred (Church) Bruley.
Wanieta was employed with the state of Vermont as a case worker for over 30 years.
She is survived by her three children, Ralpha N. Pratt and her husband, Roderick F., of Barre, Robert R. Newcity and his wife, Sandra G., of Montpelier, and Randall J. Newcity, of Burlington; her two grandchildren, Russell C. Pratt and his wife, Natashia, of Boise, Idaho, and Penny Ann Stearns and her husband, Robert, of Plainfield; her great-grandchildren, Randall W. Stearns and Ryan C. Stearns, both of Plainfield, and Sophia Pratt and Maximus A. Pratt, of Boise, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.
Wanieta was predeceased by a grandson, Corey S. Newcity; a sister, Velma B. Thornton; and by her brother, Carlton Bruley.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church in Burlington. Interment will be in the spring in St. Albans Bay Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446. Visiting hours will be on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Ready Funeral and Cremation Service, 261 Shelburne Road in Burlington.
