Mrs. Ada Lou Allen Hardin, age 89, of Newport, passed away Sunday evening, September 4, 2011 at Jefferson County Nursing Home. She attended Edgemont Church of God from 1975 until her health prevented her attendance but the church was always in her heart. She was employed by Stokley Van Camp for forty one years until her retirement in 1985. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Lillie Clevenger Allen, son Donald Ray Britt, brother Hardy C Allen, brother and sister-in-law Hal and Irene Allen, sisters and brothers-in-law Alma Allen black and Hurbert Black, Alene Allen Ramsey and Billy Bruce Ramsey, and Arlene Allen Webb and Monk Webb, father-in-law Jim Hardin, mother-in-law Irene Hardin, sister-in-law Hazel Hardin, brothers-in-law Jesse Hardin and James Miles, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Violet Hardin Calfee and Jack Calfee and Marie Hardin Thomas and Allen Thomas. Survivors include her husband of 59 years J.W. Hardin, granddaughter and grandson-in-law Debra LuCindy Britt Pack and Darrell Pack, brother and sister-in-law Hollis (Buddy) Allen and Dean Allen, sister and brother-in-law Kate Allen James and Robert James,all of Newport, sisters-in-law Catherine Allen of Newport and Agnes Miles of Oak Ridge. She is also survived by special family members, Christine Britt Hunt, Pete Hunt and Jason Hunt. The family would like to express special thanks to St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville, Jefferson County Nursing Home, Cocke County Baptist Hospital, Edgemont Church of God, Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice and also to very dear friends of the family, Linda Rolen and Kim Ottinger. The funeral service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Wednesday September 7, 2011 in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop John Nations Officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at Union Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. interment. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Edgemont Church of God, 202 Clevenger Cut Off, Newport, TN 37821.
