May, the sixth of Amaziah & Sarah (Fowler) Spark's 11 children, was born in Goose Lake, Modoc Co, CA.

Following the Civil War, Amaziah & family moved to Yamhill Co, OR, then to Modoc Co, CA, then to Lewis Co, WA, later to Linn Co, OR, then to Klickitat Co, WA and finally back again to Lewis Co, WA.

The bottom photo is of May & her sister, Effie.

May & John Rich, a farmer, were married in 1893. On June 13, 1900, John & May, ages 44 & 26, owned a farm in Klickitat, Lewis Co, WA. They had been married 7 years; May had given birth to two children: Zola E. & James M., ages 6 & 4.

On April 21, 1910, John & May, ages 54 & 36, were operating a dairy farm. May had given birth to three more children. Their children were Zola E., 16; James M., 14; Clyde W., 9; Inez A., 6; & Samuel T., 1 year & 5 months.

They lived near May's sister, Emma, & her husband, Howard Wilson, who were also operating a dairy farm.

On Jan. 27, 1920, John & May, 63 & 46, still lived in Klickitat Prairie, Lewis Co, WA. They were operating a home farm. The only children at home were Inez & Samuel, 15 & 11.

May's sister, Emma, & her family still lived near them & were making a living also with a home farm.

John was 73 years old when he died at home on April 14, 1929.

On April 12, 1930, May, 57, lived alone in Chehalis, Lewis Co, WA, in a home that she owned valued at $4000.
