Bessie Davis, 94, a lifetime resident of Weatherford, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, in Weatherford.
Service is 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at North Main Church of God, 803 N. Main St., Weatherford. Interment will be in City Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Bessie Louise Smith Davis was born April 19, 1918, in Parker County, the only daughter of the late Link and Annie Hayworth Smith. She loved to be outdoors but she really loved fishing and working in her yard. She had a real servant's heart and made it her priority to see that everybody was taken care of before she was.
Bessie was a member of North Main Church of God for 90 years and was baptized in Town Creek.
Survivors include children, John P. Davis and wife, Ina, of Weatherford, James Davis and wife, Joyce, of Washington, Deward Davis and wife, Wanda, of Mineral Wells, Dianne Soap and husband, Johnny, of Weatherford, and Skip Davis, of Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and church friends.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Jennings Price Davis; a daughter, Carnella Louise Atkinson; her parents; and brothers, Buford Smith, Roy Smith, Mack Smith and Ray Smith.
In lieu of usual remembrances, the Davis family suggests contributions in Bessie's memory to Meals on Wheels or Holland Lake Nursing Home.
