He died at Lewis-Gale Hospital. Mr. Belcher was a World War II veteran serving with the Air Force in the European War Zone. He was a longtime member of the Villa Heights Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982.

He was survived by his wife of 51 years, Ellen; daughter, Judy Mason; son, Keith and his wife, Teresa; two grandchildren, Jason and Lauren Belcher all of Roanoke. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Richard (Chip) Mason. Two brothers, Thomas Belcher of Roanoke and Robert Belcher of Hyannis, Mass., also survived him.
