From FOLD3 Confederate Military Records:

David B. Huffman enlisted at Mt. Jackson on 18 May 1861 with the rank of Pvt. Co. G, 33 Reg't Virginia Inf. Extensive record.

Muster Roll of 31 August 1861 discloses he was wounded at the first Battle of Manassas, VA on 21 July 1861 and promoted to 2nd Lieut. on the same day.

Appears on a causality list of killed and wounded in Jackson's division at the engagement of Cedar Run, VA on 9 Aug 1862; listed as wounded.

Promoted to Capt. on 21 Feb 1863.
Signature appears on record card no. 21.
Last date listed was at Camp Pisgah Church 12 March 1864 (card # 23)

According to family stories, he was wounded at the 2nd Battle of Winchester, VA and later returned home where he died of these wounds he had received.
